1. Safe@Home Criteria

DASH risk assessed, together with the professional judgement of the IDVA, as being at high-risk or severely effected.

3. Role of IDVA within S@H

  • Make contact with Client (safe contact number/means) within two working days of referral;
  • Arrange to personally meet where applicable/appropriate, particularly where assessed as being at high-risk;
  • Undertake DASH Risk Assessment with Client;
  • Address safety planning;
  • Address immediate issues;
  • Consider/progress to other options within Safe@Home;
  • Refer to other Agencies where applicable e.g. Alcohol Team.


4. Additional Support Options

  • Make aware of legal options e.g. Court Orders;
  • Provide details of local Solicitors;
  • Accompany to appointments with Solicitors, where assessed as being required;
  • Track Court cases at Criminal/Civil Courts and keep Client informed;
  • Liaise Key Agencies.


5. High Risk

  • Explain MARAC process to Client;
  • Explain role as representative at MARAC;
  • Complete/Review MARAC Referral;
  • Submit to MARAC Co-Ordinator.


6. MARAC

  • Represent Client and provide known update information to the Conference;
  • Contact Client and provide feedback within two working days of Conference;
  • Carry out Actions and provide update to MARAC Co-Ordinator.


7. Referrals Not Assessed at Being at High Risk/Severely Effected

  • Return to referring Agency, providing alternative option;
  • Signpost.


8. Specialist Domestic Violence Court

  • Review Court Listing;
  • Attend the Wakefield and Pontefract SDVC’s;
  • Provide appropriate support to both Safe@Home and non Safe@Home Clients present at Court;
  • Liaise Magistrate Clerk, Usher, Safeguarding Unit Officer, CPS, Listings, Post Court;
  • Make Court aware Client is in attendance;
  • Convey views of Client e.g. Restraining Order requested;
  • Provide update to Safe@Home Clients within same day or next working day (Safeguarding Unit also provide update to victims);
  • Liaise Key Agencies of Court outcomes with consent of Client.


9. Men’s Group

  • The Safe@Home Violence Prevention Worker will notify the IDVA’s of new clients attending the Men’s Group, providing information and contact details of partners where applicable;
  • The IDVA will contact partners;
  • Offer the Safe@Home Service;
  • Complete a referral form if the support of the Service is accepted;
  • Carry out the DASH Risk Assessment (to assess current risk indicators);
  • Submit Referral form and DASH Risk Assessment to Admin Officer for completion of new referral process (orange file/copy of referral to team members where applicable);
  • Refer to MARAC if applicable.
